God’s Good Grove

A muffled voice,

still and almost silent

deep within,

Called out as I awoke:

“Won’t you let me show?

Let me flow as you go!”

Like any tree

in God’s good grove,

Its limbs and branches,

from push to shove,

Must have room to let grow

its fruit from above.

“I’ve been within

since you first believed,”

the voice did say,

“Since in Christ you

were again conceived.”

Atop my canopy,

down from my crown,

My fruit must show,

love, joy and peace,

patience, kindness and

generosity,

faithfulness, gentleness

and self-control,

Must

all

be

let

to

hang

full

down

Where the hungry can reach them

and grow some of their own.
